Mayor’s Request for Contact Information Update

Per the Mayor’s office request, please review your neighborhood contact information here (https://www.portland.gov/neighborhoods) and send any updates to heather@d4cpdx.org by September 18. Emails should be official NA emails. If you need an email created, please let Heather know. See the attached email for reference on this request.

Tonight’s Board Meeting

Adam Lyons, our DCO/NA liaison with the City will be joining the Board meeting tonight, and he’s looking forward to getting your input on the upcoming Council Work Session on September 29 where Councilors will be asking questions of Adam about the Office of Civic Life and the reset and future of the Neighborhood Program. Please start thinking of questions you’re thinking of prompting our Councilors to ask Adam during this work session and what information you’d like to provide Adam to help him respond to those questions.
Heather will be here for the Board meeting tonight, and will likely be flexing her commute day to not brave the worst of the traffic. She’ll be filling in for me to give the Executive Director’s report.

New Public Safety & Livability Neighborhood Liaison

Please join me in welcoming Nico Stevenson, a senior at Lewis & Clark University. Nico is interested in pursuing law school and a career in criminal justice, with a strong commitment to helping individuals with criminal histories access opportunities, stability, and meaningful community connections. She will be assisting the D4C in attending Neighborhood Association meetings and coordinating with various bureaus (i.e. Police, Fire, Emergency Management, Violence Prevention, etc.) to schedule educational programming through the D4C Public Safety & Livability Committee. Her Final Project Report, due in December, will contain key observations, trends and recommendations identified through her attendance at the Neighborhood Association meetings, an educational program framework for the PSLC and an agency contact directory. Nico can be reached at nico@d4cpdx.org. Attached is the job description for Nico’s D4C position.

I-405 Grants Open September 15

Check out our grants page for more information! Small Community Grants applications will open a little later this year. Likely by beginning of October. https://districtfourcoalition.org/programs-and-services/grants/

Neighborhood Leadership Roundtables

Paul Leistner suggested as part of his engagement with D4C to initiate monthly or quarterly neighborhood leadership roundtables to make time and space for folks to meet, and share ideas and issues between the neighborhoods. Districts 1 and 3 are already hosting similar convenings. If anyone is interested in attending, please email paul@d4cpdx.org and let him know your preference on meeting time/day/location for these types of convenings.

NWDA Letter re Design Process Review Project

Attached is the letter from NWDA that they’re planning to send the City if your neighborhoods.

Strategic Alignment Workshop #2 Survey

If you haven’t yet, please take the time to fill out this survey in preparation for our strategic alignment workshop #2 in October. Your answers will help inform the direction of the workshop. https://forms.gle/iggA1xNFQAGYHX379

My Vacation

As a reminder, I am out of the office for 2 weeks. I scheduled this email to send while I am in Uzbekistan and out of contact. As we discussed, the I-5 shutdown will likely cause significant delays for Heather’s commute (potentially a 3+ hour commute). If you need access to the office during this time, please give Heather a day’s heads-up so she can accommodate you. heather@d4cpdx.org
I am attaching my out of office matrix, in case you’d like to know how responsibilities are being delegated in my absence.
