Unsheltered Homelessness: Portland’s Greatest Challenge A Multnomah County Chair Candidate Debate and Expert Panel Presentation
The Armory
October 20
4:30 – 6:00 pm
The County Chair is arguably the most important election choice Portland voters will make on November 3. Multnomah County has the primary responsibility for spending hundreds of millions of tax dollars to address homelessness, which Portlanders have for over ten years identified as the most important challenge facing our city.
The debate is sponsored by the Homeless Solutions Coalition, which represents 34 diverse neighborhood, nonprofit and business organizations that have joined together to promote positive solutions to our homeless crisis.
Former Oregon Governor Kitzhaber will kick off the event by introducing three speakers who will briefly highlight existing efforts to address unsheltered homelessness and offer a vision for what is possible at the state, county and local provider level:
—Mindy Stadtlander, Health Share of Oregon CEO
—Andy Mendenhall, Central City Concern CEO
— Lance Orton, CityTeam Portland Executive Director
The Multnomah County Chair Candidates: Julia Brim Edwards, Sharon Meieran, and Shannon Singleton have been invited to respond to questions posed by moderator Blair Best, KGW8 Anchor and host of The Story.
Registration for the event will soon be available for in person seating at the Northwest Portland Armory, as well as virtual participation via Zoom.
