Fixing Our Streets (FOS) is a transportation safety and maintenance program funded by a 10-cent per gallon local gas tax. When the voters renewed the gas tax in May 2024, $10 million out of the estimated $70.5 million in revenues was allocated to small-scale safety projects across the city.
Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) staff conduct a thorough project selection process which vets the deliverability of projects from adopted plans and community requests, then prioritizes them according to FOS criteria. Staff consult the Fixing Our Streets Oversight Committee (FOSOC) to ensure that the project list meets the intent of the FOS program.
The first half of the small safety projects were approved in early 2025, and the second half are being selected in the coming months. An early draft project list was presented to FOSOC on December 9th, 2025. The meeting materials can be found online. Importantly, there is a PDF titled “Descriptions for FOS3 Small Safety Project Draft List – December 2025” which contains summary tables and project descriptions.
If you would like to review the materials and submit feedback, please email your questions and comments to me and Liz Hoekstra by February 1st, 2026.
PBOT staff will present a revised project list to the FOSOC on March 10th, and the FOSOC will take a final vote on June 9th.
